Description
Own a piece of colonial Delaware, Maryland and Viriginia, also known as DelMarVa, regional history with a pair of early American, handmade, English-style riding spurs. This period saw the first straight neck spurs with rowels of more than 6 spokes in a very utilitarian design, free of any adornments or decoration. Made of iron by a unnamed maker, this pair incorporates a single stationary terminal stud and a chain bracelet buckle attached to the other stud, constructed to attach and fasten a leather boot strap or chain strap to the wearers boots. The spur arms are 3.5″ deep x set 3″ wide, with the rowel box extending approximately 1″ from the heel. This pair’s age makes them not ideal for wearing due to the now britte buckle chapes, but ir restored would make a nice riding pair. Or retain their revolutionary era integrity and display them with pride among your collectables, home, office or barn decor.
